ROPE LENGTH Mountain rescue teams typically develop preferred lengths locally based upon their operating area. Although there is no industry standard, common working rope lengths by rescue teams include 150, 200, 300 and 600 ft (46, 61, 91 and 183 m). Longer lengths are employed; however transport to remote incident sites becomes problematic.
